What to have ready
Nearly every failed signing comes down to one of these four. A minute of checking now saves a second trip later.
- A government photo ID for every signer, current or issued within five years
- The complete document. Unsigned is safest, since a jurat has to be signed in front of me
- Any extra witnesses your document needs
- A name on your ID that matches the name on the document

Travel depends on distance and time of day. You get the exact total before anything is booked. No surprises at the table.
California law sets the per-signature fee. Travel is a separate service the state doesn't regulate, so I publish mine rather than make you ask.

This trips people up more than anything else. The name on your ID has to reasonably match the name on the document. "Robert J. Smith" on the ID signing as "Bob Smith" is usually fine. "Robert Smith" signing a document made out to "Roberta Smith" is not.
If you recently married, divorced, or the lender printed your name wrong, tell me when you call. It is almost always fixable ahead of time and nearly impossible to fix at the table.
